Programa Pescadero Training Workshop Series

Between 2011 and 2015, I attended several training workshops and forums framed within the Pescadero Program. The program, funded by the Mexican Fund for Nature Conservation (FMCN), aimed to strengthen civil society organizations' institutional and leadership capacities in northwestern Mexico. Fondo Noroeste (FONNOR), developed the program to reinforce personal and institutional skills and design strategies and structures for civil society organizations, government agencies, and alliances committed to promoting a healthy and sustainable environment.

I participated in two training workshops where I learned how to design community-driven marine conservation agreements and bring stakeholders together to establish a strategy for community adaptation to the effects of climate change. I also participated in two national forums, where I presented the projects I led at that time. The discussions helped identify other people working on the same issues and start new partnerships.

As part of the training series, I attended an institutional leadership workshop. I had the opportunity to share my personal experience with more than 30 leaders from other organizations working in the Gulf of California. Meeting all these exceptional people helped me bolster my strengths as a leader and understand and develop strategies to improve other skills.
